AAA Equities iOS App in the Philippines

The AAA Equities iOS app is the client-side trading terminal for AAA Southeast Equities, Inc., the entity named on the Philippine site and app, and it pushes orders straight to the Philippine Stock Exchange rather than routing them through an offshore CFD venue. That distinction shapes everything about how the app executes. There is no leverage menu, no exotic pair list, no synthetic pricing engine. It is an order ticket and a market monitor for PSE-listed securities, wrapped in a native iOS shell with biometrics and push notifications.

How the app is built

The architecture is thin by design. The iOS client holds your watchlists, chart settings and positions, while price data and matching live server-side at the broker. Quotes arrive over a persistent connection with a pull-to-refresh fallback on the watchlist when the socket drops. Sessions are gated by KYC, and on iOS you get Face ID or Touch ID for re-entry instead of retyping credentials each morning.

The order types are bullish enough for position work but disciplined enough that you cannot fat-finger a market order into a thin book. What the platform covers, in plain terms:

AreaWhat you get on iOS
InstrumentsPhilippine stocks and PSE-listed securities
Base currencyPHP
Order typesLimit, market, amend, cancel, day and GTC style
ChartingIntraday and daily candles, basic studies
AlertsPrice thresholds with push notifications
AuthFace ID / Touch ID after initial KYC login

The screen real estate is the real constraint on a phone, and the app knows it. The order ticket opens as a sheet over the chart, you confirm, and the fill lands back in the position list without a page reload. On a 6-inch screen during the 09:30 open, that flow matters more than any indicator library.

NOTE
The site documents standard trading access, an upgrade path to a AAA Turbo Margin Account, and a separate AAA Robo Advisor account. The iOS app is the execution front end; the margin upgrade is an account-level change, not an app toggle.

Costs and the P20 floor

Commission is stated plainly in the terms: 0.25% or P20, whichever is higher, on both buys and sells. That minimum is the line that catches small orders. If you send P5,000, the 0.25% calculation gives about P12.50, so the P20 floor applies and your effective cost climbs to 0.4%.

Order size0.25%Applied chargeEffective rate
P5,000P12.50P20 (minimum)0.40%
P8,000P20P200.25%
P50,000P125P1250.25%
P250,000P625P6250.25%

The crossover sits at P8,000. Below that the floor eats your edge, and a scalping habit built on small tickets will bleed quietly. Above it, the rate is flat and predictable, which is what you want from a cash equity broker. On funding, the FAQ lists BDO online deposits as free and over-the-counter BDO deposits at P30, and funding can also run through any bank or e-wallet, including InstaPay and PESONet transfers.

Where the app runs out of road

This is a cash stock brokerage, not a multi-asset terminal. If your strategy needs FX or CFD exposure, tight exotic pricing, algorithmic hedging, or an API for automated execution, the iOS app will not deliver any of it. The instruments list is PSE stocks, full stop.

The second limit is structural. AAA Equities is described as a Philippine stock brokerage firm licensed under the Philippine Stock Exchange and the Securities and Exchange Commission, which is a real licence with real supervision. But the SEC does not currently issue local retail-forex or CFD dealer licences, so Filipinos who want currency or index exposure generally open accounts with offshore brokers regulated by the FCA, ASIC or CySEC instead. Separately, the SEC has published advisories against a list of unregistered platforms, including Exness and HFM, Interactive Brokers, VT Markets, and FBS, on its advisories page, and that list changes, so it is worth checking before you deposit anywhere.

The strength of the licence behind your platform, not the polish of its mobile app, decides whether your money is still there in three years. When you compare brokers, weight a top-tier regulator, segregated client funds, published fee schedules, and a long public track record above slick UI. A beautifully animated app from an unlicensed operator is a liability with good typography. That is the lens to apply to any broker, including this one.

Funding and settlement through the app

Deposits and withdrawals are where the app stops being the whole story. The app initiates requests, but settlement runs on banking rails. Cash or check deposits go in at partner banks, and there is a listed Metrobank account for direct deposit. Withdrawals land in a bank account or can be picked up as a check.

Both directions settle on banking hours, not trading hours, so a withdrawal request submitted on a Friday evening will not move until the next business cycle. InstaPay transfers are real-time with a per-transaction cap of PHP 50,000; PESONet batches higher-value transfers on a next-cycle basis. E-wallet routes through GCash and Maya are typically fast on the deposit side.

TIP
PSE trades Monday to Friday, roughly 09:30–12:00 and 13:00–14:45 Philippine Standard Time. The app is idle outside those windows, so there is no reason to expect a fill at 20:00 local, when the London–New York overlap is busy elsewhere.

Tax and reporting

Profits are not carved out under a separate capital-gains regime here. Forex and CFD gains are taxed as ordinary income, reported under Other Taxable Income on the annual return, and only realised, closed-trade net gains go in. Resident individuals face TRAIN-law progressive rates: 0% up to PHP 250,000, then bracketed up to 35% on income above PHP 8,000,000. Resident citizens are taxed on worldwide income, while non-residents pay a flat 25% on Philippine-sourced income. The authority is the Bureau of Internal Revenue.

The practical consequence for the iOS app is that you should export your trade history before the year closes, not the week the filing is due. Realised gains, not open positions, are what the return reflects, and net losses may be claimable as itemized deductions, so a clean record of every closed trade is worth more than any chart study.

KYC and getting in

Account opening is where the app stops helping. Verification runs through the broker, and it needs a government-issued photo ID, which for most Filipinos means the PhilSys National ID or PhilID, a passport, a driver's licence or a UMID, plus proof of address such as a utility bill or bank statement. Some platforms accept a selfie or liveness check as an extra layer. Approval timing depends on document quality, so submit everything in one clean batch.

Once verified, the login flow on iOS only requires Face ID. That is a small thing that matters more than it sounds when you are trying to amend a resting order during a volatile open.

Questions

Does the AAA Equities iOS app support margin trading?

Not by default. The app is built around cash stock trading, and margin requires upgrading to a AAA Turbo Margin Account. That upgrade is an account-level application, not a setting you flip inside the app, so plan for the paperwork before you intend to use margin.

Can I trade forex or CFDs inside the iOS app?

No. The instruments are Philippine stocks and PSE-listed securities, and the app is a cash equity terminal. If you want currency or CFD exposure, you would be looking at offshore venues, and given that the SEC does not issue local retail forex or CFD dealer licences, you would want to check the regulator's advisory list before depositing with anyone.

What is the commission on an order placed through the app?

Broker commission is 0.25% or P20, whichever is higher, on both buys and sells, and the fee does not change because you placed the order from a phone rather than the web platform. Orders below P8,000 pay the P20 floor and therefore a higher effective rate.
